Career
James Oldnall has extensive experience in complex commercial and corporate litigation, large-scale litigation and class actions/group litigation, high net worth disputes and funded cases. His clients include financial institutions, corporates, private equity funds and high net worth individuals. James is one of the few practitioners with experience of Representative Actions under CPR 19.8 (including the leading Supreme Court case), Group Litigation Orders under 19.21 and Collective Proceedings Orders in the Competition Appeals Tribunal.
James is Managing Partner of Milberg London. Previously he worked as an Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP; as Senior Associate and Legal Director at Clyde & Co LLP and as a Legal Director and Partner, Mishcon de Reya LLP.
He was admitted onto the roll of solicitors in New Zealand in 2002 and to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales in May 2009.
He has previously been named The Times, Lawyer of the Week and was nominated for Dispute Resolution Team of the Year at the 2016 Legal Business Awards for work on Holmcroft Properties Ltd Vs KPMG LLP.

James Oldnall leads a team which includes ‘strong personalities’ and is ‘user friendly’. ‘Tenacious, bright and pragmatic’ founding partner Polly Blenkin is integral to the team which continues to expand, with the arrival of Robert Schultz from Baker Botts (UK) LLP in March 2023, Hadley Zielonka and Nicola Little from Shoosmiths LLP in September 2022.
